Tiger Woods: A Gifted Athlete Turns Worthless
December 7, 2009
Tiger Woods News. As the news continues to uncover affairs that Tiger Woods has allegedly had and the alleged payments to keep his marriage intact, the world waits to see what his sponsors decide to do.
Contracts Are Void. In my opinion, Tiger Woods is not a $600-$700 million, nor even a $1 billion, man. According to my valuation methodology, as a human being, he would be worthless as the sole person performing the survey. Yes, Tiger has incredible talent which awarded him fame and money, but his trust has evaporated as a public figure, offsetting his financial worth. If any company continues to support him, I ask the entire globe to never buy a product or service from that company (or more) again. Why?
Value. People in this world are wondering what value is. If a man has affairs and pays his wife to stay married, what is the value of love, the most sacred of all values? Tiger Woods has allegedly committed a most dishonorable act and lied. He’ll be accountable to God in the end, but the world must respond accordingly. He may be forgiven, just hopefully no longer supported in his career. His career in golf should be over. The golf tournaments around the world should ban him from playing. Sponsorships should be canceled. Kellogg responded to Michael Phelps. Public companies, in particular, and people MUST respond to bad behavior; otherwise our planet succumbs to violence and bad morals in the end. I think we all hope for a future of hope, love, honor, honesty, trust, integrity for OUR future generations. Right?
Wikipedia (www.wikipedia.com) cites that Tiger has the following contracts:
Nike for over $100 million,
Buick’s Rendezvous SUV (General Motors) valued at $40 million,
TAG Heuer created the first professional golf watch in 2005,
Electronic Arts creates golf video games in a contract with Tiger for up to $100 million,
PepsiCo (Gatorade) valued at up to $100 million,
Gillette.
Role Model Above Privacy. Tiger Woods wants his privacy, but these companies are public and people have money invested in him through stock and bond ownership. He can not escape, nor should he, the scrutiny. He is the most marketable athlete and the highest paid professional athlete which carries tremendous responsibilities to act as a good role model for younger generations and for people who support him. The people’s money is being used as a carrot to keep his wife married to him. The news about Tiger Woods is so upsetting because it highlights why not only infidelity but public ownership of companies are so wrong yet so accepted by the masses. When will the masses rise for integrity and honesty?!
Take Action. I am asking anyone who reads my blog to ask themselves the value of a human being just as I value the value of a company. Trust is critical to both! Without trust, there is no value, in fact, value becomes negative. Value Tiger Woods yourself for $10, see www.defining-value.com/blog for details.

Defining-Value Methodology Overview

Overview of Valuation Methodology. A slide presentation is now available without access codes on Defining-Value Inc.’s website under the tab ‘Defining-Value’. In the right column, ‘Defining-Value Overview’ button may be clicked for a 20 minute overview of my methodology. I describe the difference between Wall Street and my valuation methodology. This was first released at the beginning of 2008 and now I have opened it to everyone. Take a look and let me know what you think! Thanks for your support! Amy

Commercial Real Estate – A Dire Future
November 17, 2009
Commercial Real Estate Was Wrong Vision for Future. I followed the commercial real estate industry since 1998 and what struck me was the landlord always seemed to have the leverage in a deal. Is this time no different? The U.S. government seems intent on rescuing these commercial real estate companies that should actually fail. Commercial real estate was the wrong vision for the world.
TALF – A Potential Disaster. I am greatly distressed about the Federal Reserve’s Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility (TALF) program which is allowing commercial real estate companies to borrow up to 85% of the value of a commercial mortgage-backed security. So what is the value of commercial real estate – shopping centers, office buildings, industrial complexes? I would say most are worth very little. Yet, the government is somehow giving value to these assets that are NOT green, NOT built for a virtual world, DESTROYS agricultural space needed to feed the planet, SAPS energy, SAPS desperately needed water. This is an example of the virtuous circle of Wall Street and the government feeding one another while the world starves. Goldman Sachs figures heavily in these transactions and investors like PIMCO seem to think the investments have merit. When will the REAL OWNERS wake up and liquidate their investments!?!?
Noble Pursuit Is Possible. I left the commercial real estate industry to focus on understanding the farming sector – sustainable, biodiversity, organic – and better understand which companies are TRULY helping to nourish the world. All of my research is building my valuation methodology platform to best identify those entities that are truly of value. Most commercial real estate has no value and never will. Housing, on the other hand, is critical! The ideal would be for the government to allow borrowings from all of these commercial real estate companies and takeover all of them — destroying the real estate/convert to homes and converting the land to agriculturally-zoned for gardens or farms. The Fed would then be successful in its program because it would turn away from feeding Wall Street to feeding the people on the streets. Wouldn’t that be a more noble pursuit? Your thoughts?
Violence Or The Path To Freedom
November 11, 2009
Gandhi’s Wisdom. As the horrible incident at Fort Hood unfolded, I watched Gandhi last night and his comment about “the devil is in our own hearts”. How wise and how true. Every human wrestles with the good and bad in oneself every day. Hope turns the bad alternative to good. As he was known to say “truth and love will always win.” He helped to achieve independence for India in a peaceful manner, resulting in the creation of Pakistan and India to try to separate Muslims and Hindus. At the time, land was a way to segregate religions as it had been for centuries.
Berlin Wall. The 20 year anniversary of the Berlin Wall was a symbol of being free to roam in any land. I was actually in China in the fall of 1989, and the BBC was censored so I was not aware that the Wall had fallen until my return to the States.
Freedom. Freedom and equality are precious gifts God gave us. The Internet is opening the doors to many to dream and hope. Every religion/philosophy that is worth passing on wants peace, truth, freedom, equality, and love. Respecting and understanding the differences is key to a world of peace that can work toward a goal of sustaining the planet. Until we are one world, we can not work together to achieve a long-lasting planet for the generations that are being created by each of us. Your thoughts?
Trash Island
November 11, 2009
Islands of trash, particularly plastic, are forming in our oceans around the world. An interesting article and depiction of the island of trash was in November 10’s The New York Times, “Afloat in the Ocean, Expanding Islands of Trash” (by Lindsey Hoshaw, p. D2). Check it out! All species of the sea are being contaminated!!
